Barkers men's shirts cover every situation across the working and social week. Formal dress shirts handle interviews, weddings and client-facing days. Business shirts in cotton and stretch fabrics take you through five days without losing their line. Casual shirts, linen shirts and Oxford shirts step up for smart casual occasions, after-work drinks and weekend events where a tee simply will not cut it.

A well-chosen men's shirt is the anchor of a working wardrobe. Suits, chinos, blazers and footwear all follow its lead. Get the shirt right and the outfit follows.

Men's Shirts FAQs

Regular fit (Classic Fit) sits comfortably off the body through the chest, waist and shoulders, making it the most practical choice for all-day wear and layering. Slim fit (Tailored Fit) is cut closer to the body with a tapered waist for a cleaner silhouette. If you plan to layer your shirt under a suit jacket, Classic Fit sits more neatly. For a streamlined look worn alone, Tailored Fit is the stronger choice.

Shoulder seams should sit at the natural edge of your shoulder, not hanging over or pulling inward. Sleeve length should finish at the base of your wrist bone so approximately 1cm of cuff shows below a jacket sleeve. The collar should allow two fingers of space when fully buttoned. Across the chest, the shirt should follow your shape without pulling at the buttons or sitting loose enough to create excess fabric.

Three shirts cover most situations without redundancy. A white formal dress shirt for weddings, interviews and formal occasions. A business shirt in mid-blue or a subtle check for the working week. A casual linen or Oxford shirt for smart casual occasions and weekends. Once these are in rotation, a non-iron business shirt and a print shirt add variety without complicating the wardrobe.

Iron dress shirts while slightly damp for the best results. Start with the collar, pressing the underside first then the outside, then move to the sleeves, cuffs and back panel, finishing with the front placket. Use a medium-high heat setting for cotton and a lower setting for blended fabrics. Hang the shirt immediately after ironing to prevent new creasing before wear.

Classic Fit dress shirts are the most accommodating cut for broader builds, offering more room through the chest and shoulders without pulling at the buttons. For taller frames, prioritise shirts with a longer body length and sleeves detailed in the product specifications. Barkers Classic Fit business and dress shirts are cut generously through the torso and available across a range of collar and sleeve sizes to suit different builds.
